Also called papalotique. It is a herbaceous plant native to Mexico, Central and South America.

Its leaves resemble the wings of a butterfly, hence its name, which comes from Nahuatl. papalotl, “Butterfly”, and quillitl “Edible herb”. For this reason, it is also called the “Aztec butterfly.”

In addition to being very popular to accompany tacos, it is also used to make salads, sauces and as a seasoning, as its flavor is strong like rue or coriander.
