What do they mean?
An offering or altar for the Day of the Dead has different elements such as papel picado, traditional dishes, candles, etc. But without a doubt one of the most important and representative are flowers.
Each of the flowers on the altar has a special meaning, however the main reason for placing them is that according to the belief they are in charge of opening the door and marking the path to guide the faithful departed towards the offering during the 1st and November 2nd.
