We present you the rich, delicious and authentic tacos de canasta de chicharrón. This is how you prepare them at home.
Canasta tacos are believed to have originated from the 1950s in the community of Saint vincent, in the Tlaxcala state. The traditional ingredients are potatoes, beans, adobo and pork rinds. And although it is thought that if they do not come in a basket on a bicycle and wrapped in blue plastic they will not have the same flavor, here we share the recipe for you to prepare them at home. We promise you they are exquisite. This is what you need:
3 garlic cloves
2 tomatoes quartered
2 guajillo chili peppers hydrated
4 tablespoons oil
1 onion, halved
1/2 kg of pressed pork rinds
- Blend the garlic cloves, the tomato and the guajillo chiles.
- Pour the oil into a saucepan with half the onion, the pressed pork rind and the sauce that you prepared and cook for 10 minutes. While you wait, you can wash your utensils with Salvo’s grease removal power.
- Serve one tablespoon per tortilla and you’re done.
Assembling the basket
If you want to achieve the authentic flavor of the taco de canasta, you just have to line a wicker basket with brown paper, plastic and some clean jargon.
Later you will put a bed of taquitos at the bottom and bathe the hot sauce that you prepared with grated onion, but try not to get too wet. Repeat the operation until the basket is full and let it rest for between an hour and an hour and a half.
