A study conducted by the University of Washington and published in the journal Preventing Chronic Disease, associated high levels of stress with less physical activity and the habit of eating while doing other activities.

The most accessible food for a person who is stressed is, therefore, the fast one, whose caloric intake is quite high.

Bad eating habits and experiencing overwhelming experiences reduce the blood supply to the intestinal tract, which causes an alteration of the peristaltic movements of the intestine, causing problems such as constipation.

These gastrointestinal problems cause our physical and mental discomfort to increase, causing a vicious cycle that goes from satisfaction to anxiety.

It is in our hands to avoid falling into the vicious cycle of fast food and stress. To avoid this, we give you these tips:

  • Drink lots of water: Whether you have a fast food craving or are starting to feel stressed, drinking water can help eliminate these sensations.
  • Eat foods rich in fiber: it helps your intestine to “not stress” more. Eat raw fruits and vegetables. Your body and mind will thank you!
  • Respect your meal times: it is not only about eating at the right time, but also about respecting the right time to eat. Do it calmly, without haste.
  • Get physically active after eating: do you have a meal time? Take 10-15 minutes to stretch and walk.
