Pita bread is one of the oldest foods whose origin is found in the Middle East, specifically in Egypt, where it was customary to mix wheat flour with water to produce a kind of flat Arab bread.

Later this same one began to spread throughout Europe, mainly in Greece, where it got its name, on the other hand, migration, as with many other foods, made it possible to grow its popularity throughout the world.

The Egyptians are recognized as the first to prepare bread.

How do you prepare pita bread?

Ingredients:

  • 500 g of wheat flour
  • 30 g yeast
  • Glass of water
  • Teaspoon of salt
  • Tablespoon of olive oil

Step by Step:

  1. Mix and knead all the ingredients until obtaining a fine homogeneous dough, on a floured surface.
  2. Divide the dough into small balls of 50 g
  3. Crush and stretch each ball to form a kind of omelette
  4. Let stand until they begin to inflate.
  5. Bake at 220º C, for about 10 minutes.
  6. Let cool and make a hole on one side.
